Discover Our Story

We are a small, family-run business with a passion for creating authentic, heartfelt flavors. Our journey began in 2015 when we arrived here to support our daughters on their study-abroad adventure. That same year, inspired by tradition and a love for simple, wholesome food, we began making our own MISO paste. Seven years of dedication later, in October 2022, “Neko Ramen” was born—the first and only ramen specialty shop in Duncan.

Homemade Noodles

At Neko Ramen, we take immense pride in our handcrafted dishes, made fresh daily with dedication and care. Starting three hours before our doors even open, our skilled chef—a true artisan and the only Japanese chef in this region—pours heart and soul into crafting perfectly fresh, preservative-free noodles that elevate each bowl of ramen to a whole new level.

Homemade MISO

Our homemade miso is a labor of love, with some batches aged for up to two years to achieve the perfect balance of depth and flavor. This level of craftsmanship is a rarity, even in Japan, where only a handful of ramen shops serve ramen made with their own homemade miso. To complement our ramen, we also prepare our signature chashu pork and gyoza completely in-house, ensuring every dish reflects the same attention to detail, freshness, and authenticity.

While many traditional ramen shops in Japan feature brown-toned interiors, we’ve chosen pink as our theme color.
Our goal is to create a bright, café-like atmosphere that feels welcoming for solo diners and beloved by children.
We aim to offer a truly unique, one-and-only concept unlike anything you’ve seen before.

At Neko Ramen, every bowl is a labor of love. We craft our ramen with care, using our homemade miso and freshly made noodles, ensuring every bite is infused with the warmth of home. From our charming little shop, we are delighted to bring natural, preservative-free ramen to the community of Cowichan Valley and to visitors from near and far. It’s more than just ramen—it’s our story, served one bowl at a time.

You can enjoy any of our ramen with gluten-free noodles made from green peas!
They're 100% gluten-free.
Please note: our regular noodles are homemade, but the gluten-free ones are not.

At Neko Ramen, we pride ourselves on being a kid-friendly destination that families love to visit! With playful anime decorations adorning our walls and special themed decorations changing with each seasonal event, our cozy space feels like stepping into a whimsical world that kids adore.

Our one-of-a-kind bubble tea, complete with original stickers designed exclusively for Neko Ramen, has become a favorite treat among our younger guests. We've even received heartwarming feedback from parents who tell us their kids often ask to come to "the fun ramen place!"
