JIKEI HOSPITAL in Japan

In recent years, Japan has faced growing social issues involving unintended pregnancies, social isolation, financial hardship, and young women who are unable to receive support from their families or communities. Some women hide their pregnancies out of fear, stigma, abuse, or lack of support, placing both mothers and babies at serious risk.

Jikei Hospital operates Japan’s first baby hatch program, known as “Kounotori no Yurikago” (“Stork’s Cradle”), which provides a safe place for babies who cannot be cared for by their parents. The hospital also offers confidential birth support, allowing women in difficult situations to safely give birth while protecting their privacy.

Many women who seek help from the hospital report that they have nobody they can trust, nowhere to go, or are afraid to tell their families about their pregnancy.

Jikei Hospital provides counseling, medical care, and emergency support to help prevent unsafe births, abandonment, and harm to both babies and mothers.

We believe that one of the most important ways to prevent isolation is through human connection, compassion, and community support.

That is why we are holding this Japanese cultural exchange charity event — to help people experience and better understand Japanese culture while also strengthening connections within our local community.

Through food, culture, and shared experiences, we hope to create a warm and welcoming space where people can come together, support one another, and help make a difference.

All participation fees and donations collected through this event will be donated to Jikei Hospital to support their ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable mothers and babies in Japan. During the event, participants will also have the opportunity to write letters of encouragement and appreciation to the hospital’s healthcare workers, and these messages will be delivered directly to Jikei Hospital as a gesture of support and gratitude for their important work.

All participation fees and donations will be sent to Jikei Hospital in Japan.

Your support helps support the hospital’s baby hatch program and provides care for babies and mothers in need.
